A couple days ago I finished the tracklist for the album that I'm working on. Overall, I'd say I'm proud of it! I think 7 songs is a decent length for a first-sung album. I guess it would only be 5 tracks if you don't count the interlude or the intro. I'm still workshopping it around, but I think the sequencing is pretty tight for what I have here.
The next step I need to take in this album's release is the art direction. Cover art, promotional stuff, etc. I know it's not some huge release but I still want to make it special and most of all cohesive. I do have an image in my head for what I want the art direction of the album to look like but I'm still working on it.
Can't wait to release soon!
The other day I started working on a new track for my upcoming album. I'm tyring to move toward a more electronic/R&B feel for this body of work and I feel like I'm kinda achieving that? This is a really rough draft for this track and I'm still working on the arrangement, mix, and vocals. But overall I like where it's going.
I'm still figuring out what I want the vocals to sound like. I keep leaning towards the formant shifting type sound and while it kinda works for most songs, I need to change the overally performance to fit the tone of voice. Like for lower formant vocals I kind of put on a different accent and tone of voice to match the deeper quality. I almost put on a kind of British accent to accentuate the lower, groan-y type sound of it.
For example, instead of just saying "We'll make it out," I instead will go like "We'll maehkhit a-ut" to fit the tone of voice better. It's hard to explain through text but try to hear it in the song while I'm singing if you can.
